The High Court in Livingston heard of the ordeal that a young Japanese tourist was subjected to whilst at an Air B N B flat just 5 miles outside the capital. She was only on the second day of her trip to Scotland.

Kevin Turner aged 29 denied forcing his way into the flat where he is said to have strangled and sexually assaulted her. The victim gave evidence on a live video link from Tokyo. The Jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict in just over two hours citing the DNA findings on the young tourist’s neck.

Judge Braid has now added Turner’s name to the Sex Offenders’ Register. Turner will now have details of his conviction notified to Scottish Ministers in order to protect vulnerable people in Scotland.
