Peloton has been the cause of two on screen characters heart attacks just weeks apart.
The bike brand was beginning to make a resurgence after widespread allegations of injuries to users caused by safety failures with the bike.
December was the start of some unfavorable product placement, with the bike being featured in the return of Sex and The City with “And Just Like That”. It caused Chris North (playing Mr Big) to die after taking part in one of their “high intensity workouts”.
The character is found slumped in the bathroom on the show.
Peloton were investigating whether to take legal action as they didn’t consent to use within the production and believed it would affect their brand image.
Billions is also now airing on NOW across the UK. Peloton responded to the PR disaster stating that while they understand shows want to use the Peloton brand, they did not have permission to use the bike or their intellectual property.
We get TV shows want to include @onepeloton to get people talking, but to be clear, we did *not* agree for our brand or IP to be used on @SHO_Billions or provide any equipment. As the show itself points out, cardio-vascular exercise helps people lead long, happy lives.
