Coronavirus guidelines across Scotland are changing. Edge Radio’s Heather Davey has found out more...

On Tuesday 11 January, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that restrictions on outdoor events, including football matches and concerts, will lift on Monday.

It comes after Boxing Day restrictions were introduced in Scotland, to help curb the effects of the latest surge in Coronavirus cases.

From Monday 17 January, large outdoor events will reopen to full capacity crowds. It means that the Scottish Premiership will welcome fans for the duration of matches and for the full season of the Scottish ‘Six Nations’.

However, people wanting to attend events must have a valid ‘vaccine passport’, showing that a person has had their booster jab; If a second dose was more than four months ago.

Proof of a recent negative Lateral flow test or PCR test will be valid in some venues too.

In a statement, the First Minister said that ‘there may be some signs that we are starting to turn a corner’, expressing a message of hope.

That being said, there is still a clear message that people must remain cautious, as the impact on the NHS and our lives is still at risk.
