Scotland’s COVID cases continue to rise in the run up to Christmas

The omicron variant is now spreading through Scotland

In the week we heard from Nicola Sturgeon that a pop concert had been linked to cases of the Omicron variant, cases across Scotland continue to rise.

We’ve collated the latest COVID-19 statistics for this 24 hour period.

  • 2,067* new cases of COVID-19 reported
  • 29,017* new tests for COVID-19 that reported results
    • 9.6%* of these were positive
  • 1* new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive (Noting that Register Offices are now generally closed at the weekend)
  • 45 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
  • 586 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19
