Over three million eligible, in Scotland have received at least their first COVID vaccination. is This good news for many, as it means more than half of the adult population have had their jab.

66.6% of Scotland’s adult population have had the first dose of the Coronavirus Vaccine, dated to Friday May 14th. This is a big moment for Scotland and after recent scares in hotspot spikes, of the virus.

Not only this, but 1,599,519, to the same date, have received both doses, further boosting protection against the virus, according to a recent press release.

Dr Gregor Smith, Chief Medical Officer said in a statement, It is down to the enormous efforts of our vaccination teams around the country that more than three million people in Scotland … I would like to say a huge thank you to them and all those who have taken up their offer of a vaccine.

It is hoped that by the end of July, the whole of the adult population will have had their first vaccine.

Currently, 40 to 49-year-olds are attending vaccination appointments and slots are being booked for the next group of 30 to 39-year-olds.

On Friday 14 May, Nicola Sturgeon made the ‘hard decision’ to keep Glasgow and Moray under Level Three restrictions, when the rest of Scotland will move into Levels Two or One of Scotland’s Coronavirus guidelines, on Monday 17 May. This comes after a spike in positive Coronavirus cases.

People across Glasgow and Moray are being asked to take a COVID-19 test, to help find any asymptomatic cases. Vaccines are also being pushed, for those in vulnerable areas.
