French Film Festival UK Reveals its 2024 Screenings in Edinburgh

The 32nd edition of the French Film Festival UK features over 200 screenings of 60 French-language films at more than 25 diverse locations, showcasing some of the year's most eagerly awaited titles.

Many of these films are UK premieres and highlight the work of acclaimed directors, including Jacques Audiard, Audrey Diwan, Emmanuel Courcol, and many more.

This year, they are also celebrating the debut of female directors Laetitia Dosch and Charlotte Schiøler.

Special guests at the festival include Mathieu Amalric, presenting his film “Filmlovers!” at London’s Ciné Lumière on November 29th, alongside screenings in other venues.

Here’s a rundown of all the screenings and evetns happening in and around Edinburgh:

Actor-director Charlotte Schiøler will introduce her film “Mousey” at the Glasgow GFT on November 15th and at the Edinburgh Institut français d'Ecosse on November 16th.

Wilfried Méance will present his comedic film “Maybe More” at the Edinburgh Institut français d'Ecosse on November 20th.

Documentary veteran Claire Simon will engage in a conversation with fellow director Sophie Fiennes after her film “Elementary”, screening Glasgow Film Theatre on November 25th.

As the only Francophone film event in the UK, the festival continues its tradition of offering a diverse and challenging selection of films.

This year, it proudly partners with MUBI, providing attendees access to a range of works from distinguished filmmakers like Bertrand Bonello, Claire Simon, and Quentin Dupieux, all at a special discounted rate.

Richard Mowe, co-founder and director, stated: "For lovers of French-language cinema, the Festival offers a rich tapestry of films hailing from Québec, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Africa, and France.

“Many screenings feature guest appearances and expert introductions, spanning rural and coastal communities to major cities including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Chichester, Warwick, Nottingham, London, and beyond. Join us for some of the finest cinematic experiences of the year, all accompanied by English subtitles."
